Job title: Head of Engineering

Location: San Francisco, CA. Will not consider anyone remote.

The Opportunity: We seek an experienced and passionate engineering leader to take over the development of our mobile service which addresses an enormous and widespread societal problem - to enable the 53 million U.S. households that have more than ~$490B in overdue credit card debt to pay it off for good. People with credit card debt wish they could pay it off, but often they struggle unsuccessfully to do so. This silent epidemic is so pervasive that whether you realize it or not, people you know are quietly suffering from this problem. They could be your friends, your coworkers, and even your immediate or extended family members. It has been well documented that struggling with credit card debt can cause numerous health problems, including stress, lack of sleep, impaired immune function, anxiety, depression, and many others. Together, through our service we can alleviate and even eliminate the suffering of our customers.

Most personal finance apps create the illusion of control, but actually have no effect on people’s ability to pay off debt. In addition, there are few good solutions for people with too much credit card debt. Existing solutions are either incomplete or worse, take advantage of people who are already struggling financially.

What makes our service different is that it is based on the science of how people make financial decisions, also known as behavioral economics. We help our customers make informed spending choices so that they can pay off their credit card debt for good. For example, showing them how minor adjustments to their spending habits can save them thousands of dollars in credit card interest can help a person who feels trapped by their debt see a path to paying it off instead. This is only the beginning, and there is much more we can do, but we need your help to do it.
